In order to set an increase or decrease to the speed that the Auto Scheduler will use for travel times you will need to be set as an Account Manager role on Civica Scheduling.
Civica Scheduling can set a Speed Factor, so that if you find the Auto Scheduler setting travel times are too quick or too slow, you can adjust this to accommodate your requirements. By default this setting is set to 1 times the speed factor, which means that no change will be made and the standard travel time will be used. If you change this setting to be 0.5 then Civica Scheduling will calculate travel time based on you driving half as fast. For example if a travel time is usually 10 minutes, then a 0.5 speed factor will change the travel time to be 20 minutes and a speed factor of 2 will change the travel time to be 5 minutes.
Setting a Speed Factor
There are two areas that we need to set up in order to enable speed factor, one is to set up the account settings, the other is to set up the group settings. The group settings will be used if a specific group is used as the filter option when Auto Scheduling, whereas the account settings will be used if the All Groups setting filter option is used when Auto Scheduling.
Both settings can be accessed through the account settings page by clicking the Settings button in the top-right corner of Civica Scheduling.
Account Settings
From the account settings select the Auto Scheduler tab in order to make changes as to how the Auto Scheduler will work for your account. On this tab you will find an option labelled "Speed Factor", here you need to input the speed factor that you would like to determine the time between visits by. Once you're happy with the settings click on the green Save button to confirm your settings. Remember, if you set this to 0.5 this will mean that a 10 minute journey will be turned into a 20 minute journey as you will be travelling at half the speed.
Group Settings
From the account settings select the Groups tab in order to make changes as to how the Auto Scheduler will work for you when filtering for a specific group. If you are creating a new group then you can input the "Car Speed Factor" however in this example we will be editing a previously created group.
Scroll down on the page until you find your list of groups and select the orange Edit button on the right-hand side of the group that you would like to increase the time between visits for different post codes for.
This will open up the groups edit page, scroll down and under the Group Auto Scheduler Settings go to the option labelled "Car Speed Factor" and input the value by which you would like to alter the travel time by. Once you're happy with the settings click on the green Save button to confirm your settings. Remember, if you set this to 0.5 this will mean that a 10 minute journey will be turned into a 20 minute journey as you will be travelling at half the speed.
Auto Scheduling
Now that both the group and account settings have been set up you can head over to the Compact View and perform an Auto Schedule or alternatively head over to the Day View and perform a Reorder to use the new settings.
